Best Buy will match a lower price on an identical, in stock item from 19 named retailers, and will also match its own price if it drops while you are still inside your return window. It does not match third party marketplace sellers, clearance, refurbished or open box stock, and it suspends matching entirely from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the Monday after. You get one match per identical item per customer at the time of purchase.

The list of who counts is narrower than most people assume, and it is the part that decides whether a request succeeds at the counter. Here it is in full.

The critical detail is that a product sold on Amazon or Walmart by a third party marketplace seller does not qualify, even though the retailer is on the list. It has to be sold and shipped by the retailer itself. That single rule accounts for most refused price match requests.

Best Buy will not match clearance, refurbished, open box or pre owned stock, membership only pricing, bundle offers, financing or gift card offers, limited quantity sales, or anything labelled as Black Friday pricing or a special daily or hourly sale. Items offered between the Thursday before Thanksgiving Day and the Monday after Thanksgiving are excluded outright, which removes the single busiest week of the retail year from the guarantee.

This is the part worth remembering. If Best Buy lowers its own price in store, online or in the app while you are still inside your return and exchange period, it will refund the difference on request. That turns the return window into a price protection window, and it is why a 60 day membership window is worth more than the extra 45 days of return rights alone suggest. Ask for it, because it is not applied automatically.

Have the competitor's live listing open on your phone showing the item in stock at the lower price, sold by the retailer itself rather than a marketplace seller. Check the model number matches exactly, not just the name. Do it at the time of purchase where you can, since that is the case the policy is written around, and a match inside the return window is still available afterwards if the criteria are met.

Yes, on items sold and shipped by Amazon itself. Anything sold by a third party marketplace seller on Amazon does not qualify, which is the most common reason a match is refused.

Does Best Buy price match after purchase?

Yes, in two ways. If Best Buy's own price falls while you are inside your return and exchange window, it will refund the difference on request. A competitor match inside that window is also possible when all the other criteria are met.

Does Best Buy price match on Black Friday?

No. Matching is suspended from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the Monday after, and anything labelled as Black Friday pricing is excluded on top of that.

Does Best Buy price match Costco or Sam's Club?

Both are on the qualified list, so yes in principle. Membership only pricing is excluded, so a price that requires a Costco or Sam's Club membership to access will not be matched.
